Customization of a Commercial Electronic Enclosure

Starting from a commercial GAINTA enclosure, mechanical machining operations and aesthetic finishing processes were carried out to transform a standard enclosure into a fully customized product, without the need to design a completely new housing.

What was developed

  • CNC milling operations on multiple sides of the enclosure.
  • Removal of internal elements through CNC machining.
  • CNC milling of the transparent cover to create the housing for the graphic label.
  • Sandblasting of the transparent cover to achieve an opal finish and improve the diffusion of the backlighting.
  • Black matt liquid painting with a textured finish applied to the lower housing.
  • Production and application of a digitally printed label.
  • Design and manufacturing of an aesthetic cover in Nylon PA12, produced through 3D printing with a blackened finish.

Technologies Used

  • CNC Milling
  • Sandblasting
  • Liquid Coating
  • HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing (Nylon PA12)
  • Label production
  • Assembly

All processing activities were carried out internally by MCS.

The ability to integrate CNC machining, painting, label production, 3D printing, and assembly allows commercial enclosures to be customized through a single point of contact, reducing management times and ensuring a consistent technical and aesthetic result.
