We continue to get to know the professionals in the different areas that make up the company. In this interview we have a brief chat with Mrs. Valeria Vignaga, Administration and Finance Manager.
Good morning, Valeria, can you briefly tell us who are you and what do you do inside MCS?
We can say that I, like my brother Alessandro, was born and raised in the company. After completing my studies –I am a technical accountant planner–I immediately joined MCS by doing the classic apprenticeship: from the production department gradually, I came to the current administrative department, where I am particularly in charge of customer billing. I have been working in MCS since 2009.
What aspects of your work do you enjoy most?
Aside from the numbers, of course, the aspect I appreciate most is the ability to have interaction with people. In fact, we have long-standing customers with whom we have now established a friendly relationship. I believe that the opportunity to compare oneself with others is an important factor for growth.
What does working in MCS mean to you?
Helping to carry on a business established by my parents with so much sacrifice has great value. To see the trust placed in me means so much: it is a motivator to spur you on to do better and better, both professionally and personally.
What is your relationship with your brother Alessandro?
Maybe some people won’t believe it, but I have never quarreled with my brother: there may be arguments, confrontations, but they are never quarrels. I must say it is a pleasure to work with Alessandro as he is a very calm and humble personality.
If someone makes a mistake, he does not tend to blame. He is always ready to show how something should be done, how it could have been done to achieve a positive result, giving others a chance to improve. We could say that he has a “motivating” attitude, with everyone.
What do you think are the strengths of MCS?
We always try to satisfy the customer in everything, starting from the production demands. Even in times of economic hardship, we are committed to meeting the customer: we have never closed the doors to anyone and, despite the recent periods of crisis, we have managed to please everyone.
I tried to “extract” some factors of MCS’s corporate DNA: customer service, innovation and problem solving. What do you think?
I can only agree. Undoubtedly, we can consider them our main strengths.
A dream to be fulfilled?
From a professional point of view, it is to be able to constantly improve, contributing to the growth of the company. From a personal point of view, it is to pass on to my 13-year-old daughter the desire to learn and discover new things, to let her grow up with the maximum freedom, including in choosing her own course of study and future career. Simply put: don’t do “stupid things” at the parenting level.
We often talk about “work life balance” – what do you think about it?
I am lucky – in a way – of not living near my brother, so it doesn’t happen that we talk about work outside the company. When I’m home I try to be with family.
Of course, even at home it happens that you have thoughts of work, but the aim is to disconnect hundred percent. It’s complex and difficult, but I think I’ve managed to find a balance in that sense.
In conclusion, if you wanted to give a message to all the customers who are reading us, what would you say?
I would like to reiterate what I said before: at MCS we are always available. Whatever the request or difficulty, we always try to give an answer and a solution.
